re: "God hates fags"

The modern evangelical mantra "hate the sin, but love the sinner" is not what we find in many Bible passages that clearing indicate that God hates the wicked themselves -  it's a rather strange "love" that would burn somebody in hell forever. God sends people to hell, not their sins.

Although I don't agree with their hard-shell Calvinism (the TULIP theology from the 16th century), I do believe Fred Phelps is the type heaven sent & unpopular last-days prophet that God has given as a final warning to the world right before the tribulation starts.
