Hi Ellen I'm a baptist and I don't believe in the "sin of presumption" at all. It is a false belief based upon the assumption that forgiveness is obtained through a man made "Eucharist" ceremony rather than Jesus Christ's once-for-all sacrifice on the cross two thousand years ago.
I ran into some people downtown on Main Street who were passing out literature for their church over that weekend, and when I asked the lady if she knew for certain whether or not she was going to heaven, she replied "No, that would be the sin of presumption." I shared with her the verse from 1 John 5:13, but she said that her church traditions teach differently than 1 John 5:13. She claimed she belonged to the one true church, and that I was a member of a "sect." Thank you for the verses you shared.
