Manna - What is it? part 2  #365

The first part on this subject was message #293 link http://www.abbasway.org/messages/293e.htm about what manna actually is. Please read it first if you have not already done so.

We have apple and pear trees which we planted twenty-six years ago. Some years they do better than others. When we get good rains with mostly sunny days, we get more fruit, bigger fruit, and better tasting fruit.

Desert plants of all kinds soak up water much faster than plants where it rains often. They must to survive. They also flower and make seeds much faster. Tamarisk bushes are one of these plants which react quickly to water. Extra water produces extra sap in the bushes. Extra sap means more manna than usual.

We have wet years and dry years, hot years and cool years where we live. Sometimes several years will be continuously above or below average. Weather conditions have as much as fifty year and even hundred year shifts one way or another. This is common in most of the world. The desert can also be very wet in the morning after a night of dew; as wet as if it had rained. Wetter than normal years could have produced abundant manna.

Ex 16:21-22 says, “Each morning everyone gathered as much as he needed, and when the sun grew hot, it melted away. On the sixth day, they gathered twice as much - two omers [size unknown] for each person - and the leaders of the community came and reported this to Moses.” Manna means “What is it.” They didn’t know what they were eating.

Today we know the miracle was not manna. Manna was and still is a natural process. Anyone who does not believe this need only camp in the desert there and eat some in the morning. The miracle was the unusually large production of manna for an unusually long period of time, but quite possible.

This is another example of people not believing The Bible due to their own ignorance even since manna was scientifically explained. Why not believe The Bible even when we don’t understand something? More and more we learn The Bible was correct and people were wrong. Why don’t the textbooks teach about the discovery of manna? You know why; they try to influence students away from Bible truths.

Please forward this to everyone.
