Dear Doves
I agree with the sentiments here questioning 40DOP and do not feel that the writer of this text was vicious or attacking. Yes I have read the book, yes my church has done an outreach with this book...so no I am not unfamiliar and uneducated. No I am not a Christian that says EVERYTHING IS BAD AND EVIL.However,I believe there is something to pause and look at. Here is why I think this. Whenever there's a NEW way to do something, and whenever 15 billion copies are sold...and whenever the "masses" start to follow, it makes me want to double check my world view.Mathew 7:14-15 says For the gate is SMALL and the way is NARROW that leads to life...and there are FEW who find it. Beware of false prophets which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.Jesus says these warnings more than once...why? Why did he say EVEN the elect will be deceived? We should always be seeking to make sure we haven't been chasing the rabbit down a hole...What's wrong with questioning what everyone thinks is the new cool thing?I think the church needs to be more intolerant whom they allow to let lead. For low we might be led into a den of lions!Upon reading this book, there was a quiet voice in my head...and a little red flag was waved. Is that the Holy Spirit?Let us reason and measure together. Let us question every spirit to see that it is of God.
There could not have been 15 billion copies of the book sold as there are only 6+ billion people in the whole world. If the figure is 15 million, that is still a relatively small number for a world figure. If it is true, praise God!
There is nothing wrong with questioning, but without slandering, and as long as there is a reasonable basis
