Please pray for the persecuted Christians in Bhutan, Burma, and Henan.
Imprisoned Christians in Bhutan Request Urgent Prayer & Action
Jubilee Campaign, a Christian human rights group based in Fairfax, VA, has received an urgent request from “reliable sources” within Bhutan, a country located in Southern Asia, between China and India, for prayer and action for two Christians who have been imprisoned there.
A spokesperson for Jubilee Campaign told ANS, “We have been praying for two brothers, Benjamin and John Dai, who were arrested in Bhutan on January 8, 2006, in the western part of Bhutan. They were imprisoned without trial for six months and suddenly they have been sentenced. Benjamin received a sentence of three-and-a-half years in prison and John was sentenced to three years. They were given the provision of ten days to appeal to the court for bail and then to fight the case with the help of prominent lawyer.
“In Bhutan the government is always right we are always wrong. So there is very little chance of winning the case unless there is intervention from high. So they need your urgent prayer.”
The spokesperson continued, “I recently got a call from Bhutan that these two brothers in prison have requested that we publicize their case in the media for international attention. If you have access to media sources, please let them know what is going on in Bhutan.
“The need in this case is very urgent. The brothers are very seeking the help of human rights organizations such as Amnesty International. In addition to prayer for the victims, we now request further action on their behalf. The time has come for action by prominent people to reach and influence the government of Bhutan. Their families have made this request; I am passing it along. So let’s help.”
The spokesperson then gave some prayer points:
PLEASE PRAY:
- that God would intervene on their behalf and grant justice and mercy.
- Pray for God to bring forward a skilled attorney to represent them and people who can assist in pleading their case before the government;
- for peace for the brothers and their families and provision for all their needs;
- for protection from mistreatment for both them and their families; and
- for God to use this as a means of uniting the body of Christ to stand with our brothers in this time of need for God's glory.
Massive Burma Army Attack Against Christian Karens ReportedBurma’s military continued its "biggest offensive" in nearly a decade against the, predominantly Christian, Karen community and eyewitnesses reported killings, burning of villages and the capture of civilians, including children, investigators confirmed Tuesday, June 6.
"It is difficult to imagine the indiscriminate brutality of these atrocities," said Tina Lambert, Advocacy Director of Christian Solidarity Worldwide, which has close contacts in Burma, also known as Myanmar, in a statement to BosNewsLife.
Free Burma Rangers, another relief team working in eastern Burma, claimed the number of displaced people in Karen State has risen to over 18,000 in what investigators described as the "biggest offensive since 1997."
In one area, over 800 civilians were captured and forced to work as porters for the military, along with over 1,000 prisoners, the group added.
