Thanks a lot for such an interesting article. I’m one of those who strongly suspect that a Pope is the false prophet and that the antichrist is a political leader. This political leader has to be connected with Christianity so that it will be difficulty for Christians to doubt what the false prophet is saying about his leadership. Hence the elect will need the Spirit of discernment in order to distinguish between miracles performed by the false prophet to mislead them into believing a lie.

Now if we knew for sure that the false prophet was in his papal office already, then since he is part of a system that works with a twisted truth, then looking around him might shed light, e.g. he has the number 16, so may be the rapture should be on the 17th day of a particular month.

Both the false prophet and antichrist are human beings who are also entitled to salvation but thanks be to the Lord Jesus Christ who is Sovereign in His mercy (see Romans 9:14-23).
