BAGHDAD [MENL] -- The Iraq Army has established a rapid response team trained by the United States. The rapid response team has been introduced into the Iraq Army's Sixth Division. The division has established the Second, or Tiger Brigade, meant to respond to crises, largely in the Baghdad area.
The Tiger Brigade underwent a command post exercise in May 2005 at Baghdad International Airport. Officials said the training exercise was conducted by the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd U.S. Infantry Division and structured to test the Tiger Brigade staff's ability to coordinate with a range of command levels during an emergency.
Officials said the exercise was conducted with the help of about a dozen interpreters. They said the Tiger Brigade staff maintained 24-hour operations during simulated crises as well as planned and executed operations. The brigade was also tested in its ability to disseminate information within headquarters as well as to subordinate units.
