"What the Yucaipa quake felt like"

Diane Talsma asked what the quakes felt like here in Southern California. We live in Redlands, which is right next door to Yucaipa, which was the epicenter. The original measurement of the quake was a 5.3 ,
and then it was "downgraded" to a 4.9. But everyone we know agrees with the original measurement.

This is part of an email my wife Angela wrote to Lori Feichter, when Lori asked about the quake.

"The whole house rolls and shakes ....over and over again, all the windows rattle and shake, and everything moves.

I had just come home from grocery shopping and was about to open the back door when all of the sudden I heard all the windows rattle . I was under a heavy eave ( NOT a good place to be) so I quickly backed off and went to the post on the fence around our patio.
I hung on tight as it [ the ground ]  kept rolling and rolling, and it lasted a lot longer than most quakes.

I quick said a prayer for Jim ( somewhere on the apartment property) and for other relatives and friends here in Southern California. By the end of my prayers, it was over.
I was so glad to be home and to have gotten all of our groceries.

I'll be honest with you. There should have been deaths and much damage. All I can think of is how MERCIFUL God was to all of us. I wonder if He is warning us of a bigger one to come, and to have our spiritual hearts prepared.

I checked on some neighbors ( we have very elderly people here) and they were so scared. I told them not to be scared and to be prepared for some more aftershocks.
That even if we have more aftershocks NOT to be afraid.

( Easy to say, hard to do). But I always think of Psalm 91 and it gives me peace".
