When the young man's father died, the coach told him that he could miss
football practice that week, and even the game on Friday.

But when game time came, the boy showed up anyhow.  In fact, he played as
he had never played before, even scoring the winning touchdown.  The crowd
cheered and applauded him.  He was the hero of the game.

In the locker room after the game, the coach asked him, "How did you do
it?  I have never seen you play like that?"

The boy replied, "Well, you see, my dad never missed a game.  But he was
blind and he could never see what I did.  Today was the first day he could
see me play.  I wanted him to see me do my best."
