And the Spirit of Lot
Pat Robertson just stated on the 700 Club that he does not know if it is a sin to have a sex change operation.
Among other statements, he described homosexuality as the result of a genetic mix-up in the formation of a person with the result that the person becomes one sex outwardly but another inwardly.
The implication is that he did not know if it is a sin to change your outward person to match your inward person.
He made these statements on the June 20th broadcast during the “Bring It On” session.
I went to the 700 Club website to get his exact wording but the “Bring It On” session was not posted.
My heart was deeply grieved and I am greatly vexed at his “doctrine” of the role of genetics in homosexuality. Acceptance of this false doctrine is what gave rise to the feeble statements Robertson made about a sex change operation.
He has believed the lie of the wicked on an issue with deadly consequences.
Only a faulty gene could cause a genetic mix-up. James Dobson recently stated on national television that all scientific attempts, over decades of research, have failed to find a homosexuality gene.
If a gene had been found, it would have been trumpeted around the world as a great victory for the homosexual cause—but there is no such gene and the researchers remain silent.
This means that homosexuality is not a genetic flaw. The only remaining option is that it is a moral flaw.
Homosexuality is not the result of something over which we have no control. It is the result of wrong moral choices from one’s youth to which one becomes habituated and then enslaved.
Once this happens, it is very hard to restructure the personality and the homosexual often begins to believe and proclaim that he was just born that way.
God hates homosexuality. He hates it because, when it is full grown, it not only destroys the person, it brings the collapse of civilization.
But most of all, God hates homosexuality because it violates His holiness. In turn, His holiness is the basis of God’s image in man.
God destroyed the world for its wickedness once, saving only Noah and his family. He destroyed Sodom after saving only Lot and his family. He destroyed Gomorrah saving no one from the city.
Even the great city of Nineveh, the capital of the Assyrian empire, came within forty days of destruction before it repented. (See the book of Jonah)
What these events ultimately mean is that all nations, and all people in those nations, even those without a Jewish or Christian heritage, are always accountable to God for His holiness.
He will not judge them by any other principle, and Nineveh shows that any nation can repent.
Sodom and Gomorrah were not Judeo-Christian cities, but God held them fully accountable to His holiness and poured His just wrath out on them.
The pre-flood people of the world were not Judeo-Christian. They had no scripture, but God held them fully accountable to His holiness and poured His just wrath out on them.
God has given these events as warning for all the peoples of the world.
The final step of a nation’s slide into reprobation is the embracing, or normalization, of homosexual behavior.
This normalization is complete when the laws of the land are changed so as to protect the behavior of homosexuals and to further their purposes. The law is used to make immorality into morality and turn moral truth upon its head.
This is the final act of Satan in defacing the image of God in man.
How has our nation come to this state of affairs?
During the revolutionary era, the Whig party wrote a constitution in which the basis for justice was changed from holiness to human rights.
Even though the legal protection of homosexuality is the final expression of a nation’s rebellion against God, the theoretical underpinning by which this protection is accomplished is constitutional.
This means that the greatest flaw in our nation’s morality is not homosexuality, it is the constitutional doctrine by which homosexuality is being justified. That doctrine is human rights.
Unless our nation repents of the false doctrine of human rights and places its judges under the justice of holiness, our judges, our representatives, and our lawyers will continue to lead us down the dead-end path to Sodom and Gomorrah.
So is it a sin to have a sex change? If it is not a sin to have a sex change, then it is not a sin to practice homosexuality.
The purpose of having a sex change is so you can more freely engage in certain homosexual acts, better fulfilling your perverse desires. The surgery does not change your sex, it just mutilates key organs.
Who is going to be a partner of a person who has had his organs mutilated? Only other perverse homosexuals with their mutilated morality. Their partner will not be a heterosexual, and certainly not a God fearing Christian who is walking in holiness.
This means the mutilated homosexual still has the same moral problems as before.
The only moral behavior for a homosexual is abstinence. Just as the only moral behavior for a heterosexual is abstinence outside of a God ordained marriage.
One who is abstaining from homosexual behavior does not need a sex change.
In turn, the only moral position for a homosexual is to repent by admitting that his desires are sinful and abhorrent to God, submit to God’s holiness, and ask God to be born again.
Otherwise he is like all other sinners. He cannot “see” or “enter” the kingdom of God, and God’s holiness will remain an offense to him. (See Jesus’ testimony in the Gospel of John chapter 3).
There is no wrong in a society requiring abstinence of homosexuals and there is no wrong in a society punishing those who do engage in homosexual behavior.
So what should be done about those who have a so-called sex change surgery? (In the end, this question will also require us to ask what should be done about those who would perform such a surgery for the homosexual.)
Even the hospital administrators that would allow such an act in their institution, and the insurance executives that would choose to cover such an act, and the lawyers and judges that would make such an act legal should also be judged.
All those that facilitate such an act of wickedness should be purged from the nation—if the nation is not to be purged from the land.
And what does God think about the execution of the wicked? He established it—for He has already tried you as an offspring of Adam and sentenced you to death.
This means that you are going to grow old and die, for God has already sentenced you to execution for your corruption.
Furthermore, unless by faith you are born in the Lord a second time, you will be judged a second time and be sentenced to eternal spiritual execution. It will be in a fire that will finally purge you of all your wicked desires and beliefs.
And the fire will not go out, because your repentance will have come to late. There will not be sin in hell, for God is going to purge sin from all of His creation—there will only be terror and a never ending, sin-purging fire.
So, born once, executed twice, or born twice, executed once. Either way, we are all going to be executed by God because we are all born sinners.
Also, you are going to repent now or then. Either way, you are going to repent.
You are going to bow your knee to the one true and holy God, and you are going to confess that He is just in all his judgments. Furthermore, all are going to hear your confession. (Isaiah 45:22-23; Romans 14:11-12; Philippians 2:8-11)
Even Satan is going to bow and confess to God’s justness before he is cast into hell. Now do you think that you can out rebel Satan?
You will be infinitely better off if you repent now while God will still have mercy on your soul.
And what about justice in the Kingdom of God? Is it ugly or harsh? No, it is only terrifying for the wicked, which is the way it should be.
When His kingdom comes, what will it be like and how long will it stand?
O Lord, holiness is what makes
Your house beautiful for days without end.
