"I Want To Go Home"

I Want To Go Home

Oh to cross the river,
To the bright and golden shore;
I don’t want to stay on this side,
And live here anymore.

 I have a precious Savior,
Waiting over there for me;
And a great host of loved ones,
That I deeply long to see.

I’m weary of all the sin and strife,
The cursing and the dying;
Taking another’s life,
Fighting, cheating, and lying.

 Wickedness waxes worse and worse,
With every passing day;
What do God’s people have here below?
Why should we want to stay?

My loved ones, my friends, my precious Savior,
My hopes, my dreams, and more;
Are all laid up on the other side,
Over there on Heaven’s shore.

So I bow my head and pour out my heart,
Lord Jesus, hear my cry;
Come and take your children home,
To our treasures in the sky.

Only then shall we understand,
The exceeding riches of His grace;
When we bow before our Father’s throne,
And look upon our Saviour’s face.

 “Even so, come, Lord Jesus,” Revelation 22:20
