"A bill before the California Assembly that would have allowed terminally ill patients to end their lives with the help of a doctor was abandoned on Thursday. "At the end of the day, proponents couldn't find 20 votes to publicly support this bill," noted Laura Remson Mitchell of the California Disability Alliance. The California Senate Rules Committee has already begun looking into whether it can modify and salvage the bill, originally introduced in the Assembly by Democrats Patty Berg and Lloyd E. Levine."
