7.8M in N. Chile today......this is BY FAR the BIGGEST quake
to hit S. America.
So far there have been LOTS of 4M, 5M, 6M....and who knows how many 1M,
2M, and 3Ms. 7.8M is far more massive that the Loma Prieta or the
Northridge quakes.
What is KEY here is S.
America seems to be ahead of N. America in "adjusting" to the 9.3M Sumatra Monster Gash in the Earth in Dec.....they
became seismically active in February. Next was Central America, and most recently Mexico....especially Baja penninsula. Now
S. Calif. is starting to get some MAJOR sized quakes.
So, its good to watch what is happening to the
other areas along the Pacific Rim, so we can know what to expect. First micro quakes, then a
series of medium sized quakes......and now (it appears) THE BIG ONES are
hitting. This 7.8M, although seems to pose no tsunami risk
for CA, certainly seems to CONFIRM what scientists have been picking
up in the way of precursor activity here in CA......California is going
to have One or possible TWO Big Ones, and lots of medium sized and small
ones in various places......I suspect there will be commensurate adjustments
all along the San Andreas Fault in June, July, August and September.
Folks: Whether we like it or not, we are in for a summer of SHAKES.
I think it is best to just accept this, and take steps to be able to handle
it all in stride. I've taken down my "breakables" and don't
plan to put them back up until say, October.....(assuming
CA's Big Ones have transpired by then).
What I am NOT expecting AT ALL
, based upon all that I have observed and monitored since Dec, is a seismically
QUIET summer......if you get my drift. My 72-hour
Emergency Preparedness backpack is stowed by my bedside along with my purse,
shoes and flashlight. I'm ready to split on a SECONDS notice, if need
be. Hopefully that won't be necessary, but I need to be cognizant
of the HIGH EARTHQUAKE RISK season we have now ALL found ourselves knee-deep
in, whether we like it or not. I survived Northridge, and expect to
survive whatever Earth Shaking Events descend upon us in the near future.

OREGON - WASHINGTON - BRITISH COLUMBIA OR ALASKA. SOME AREAS MAY
EXPERIENCE SMALL SEA LEVEL CHANGES. IN AREAS OF INTENSE
