"Re: Calvin's Post on Venus and Watchers"

Shalom Calvin and Doves,
W.O.W.    Signs, signs, and more signs....Our G-d is indeed speaking, to everyone in their own understanding!  He is indeed GREAT.
When I read your post, especially the scripture....a little voice inside said take notice about the 5 wise and 5 foolish (but all virgins waiting and watching)!  And immediately, I thought of a twist...what if:
These are all VIRGINS...and on their toes waiting anxiously and watching...but they all get tired and fall asleep...as Dave Camp has pointed out.  So maybe, the wise, are like those who prepare for Shabbat durring the daytime before the night of Shabbat enters!   Like the manna gatherers in the Exodus.
And then I thought about the scripture found in Matt. 24; 15-26   where we are told to pray that this day doesn't come in the winter or on a Sabbath, but why?   Maybe, because...no one will be selling on the Sabbath....and in the winter, it might be so bad that you nor the merchant can get out of his house.   Hummm!
But what day is it talking about...the day that Daniel spoke of....the Day of the abomination that makes the sacrifice of praise desolate (like the silencing of praise, on Temple Mt. in 200l)...3 + years ago.  Plenty of time to prepare ahead.
The  vs. 22 gives another clue...when it speaks of DAYS, not just a Day like vs. 20 speaks of.
So, I'm thinking, the wise were those who didn't count on anything else...but being PREPARED.  They were so prepared, that they could rest, and not worry.  But, maybe the foolish...are those who have used the prepartions, thinking that there will always be time to replenish the supply.  Or maybe, they are the ones who always depend on someone else to sound the warning, in time for preparation.   The DAYS are shortened, and that is what catches them unaware.....and unprepared.
Those who set aside preparations for Shabbat, so that they can rest.....are indeed wise.  I wonder, since the 7th. day is spelled out as being the Sabbath, if that won't catch some unprepared?   Most don't prepare ahead of time for either the 7th. or the 8th (first day) of New Beginnings....they always need to buy or sell something.

Just thoughts,
Meriam Brown
