"God still desires to speak
propheticaly to us today."
If God is finished saying everything he desires
to say to us why is the gift of prophecy mentioned in 1 Cor. 12:7-11?.
If there is no gift of prophecy then there is no
gift of healing, no gift of faith, no spirit of wisdom or knowledge, no
gift of miracles, no discernment of spirits, and no gift of tongues.
God wants us to have all the gifts. We cant just choose
the ones we like and ignore the ones that make us uncomfortable. We can't
even make the excuse of prophetic abuse. If there is a prophecy that says
God wants us to learn how to hear from him directly that would be the heart
of the Father. That is what it is all about, hearing the Father's voice,
being in his presence. In fact if we could just learn from our spirtiual
forefathers we would practice the presence of the Lord, all the time. It
is a discipline for a undisciplined busy minded, distracted, dying church.
My Russian friends who suffered under Communism could
not imagine having this attitude that God does not prophecy anymore. Many,
many times God gave them a word that saved them from capture by the Communists,
spared them imprisonment and torture.
Look, God wants to equip us for the danger that lies
ahead. If we can not take time to learn how to hear his voice personaly,
then we can only suffer and face the consequences. God does not want that
to happen. He wants us to spend our time on the most important thing, that
is spending time with him in everything. What could be more important than
waiting on the Lord? If we could only learn to wait on him, go deeper and
deeper in the Lord, what awesome things we could see.
God bless
