Margaret,
Yes, in Zechariah 14 it says "His feet shall stand in that day upon the
Mount of Olives ... And the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst
thereof toward the east and toward the west..." Then the prophecy continues
with the hope of a restored earth. It says "The Lord shall be king over all
the earth: in that day there shall be one Lord, and his name one." And
Zechariah describes that "day" as beginning in darkness, but by the end of
the day it will be "light."
"It shall be one day which shall be known to the Lord, not day, nor
night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.
And it shall be in that day that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem
..." The prophecy is referring to the Millennial "day" which is a thousand
years long. It starts out in darkness, but by the end of the thousand years
it is "light". And the "living waters" flow out to all the earth from the
nucleus of Christ's Kingdom in Jerusalem. It shows the process of healing
the earth from the effects of the curse that was placed upon it when Adam
sinned. This can only come to pass because Jesus paid the price for the sin
of Adam, and therefore releases all mankind from the death penalty, and also
lifts the curse from the earth. By the end of the Millennium mankind will
have had restored to them all that Adam lost -- which was sonship with God
and all the beauty that such a condition implies.Bonnie Gaunt
