On Saturday July 2, 2011 the new moon was sighted from Israel. The moon was first sighted from Jerusalem at 7:58pm by Yoel Halevi and shortly thereafter by Nehemia Gordon, Aryeh Levi, Devorah Gordon, Miri Burgin, Willie Ondricek, and Val Petroff. The moon was also sighted from Ariel at 8:16 by Frank and Charlotte Mecklenburg.
