"Who is the "he" of Daniel 9:27"

When I first started looking at the end times I assumed there was a 7 year peace treaty with the antichrist and he breaks it in the middle because that is what I was taught based on Daniel 9:27.  Once I started digging in deeper I found out that there was much disagreement on the he of Daniel 9:27, and much disagreement on the length of the great tribulation 7 or 3 ½ years.

I copied this from the watchman website (I believe it was called)

In the early 1900's, a famous author named Sir Robert Anderson wrote a book entitled "The Coming Prince." This book was and still is considered today the "standard work" on the subject of Daniel's vision of the 70 weeks (Dan. 9:24-27), which is the "back-bone" of prophecy, and "the key to understanding the prophetic scriptures!" Unfortunately, for this last generation Christian, Mr. Anderson turned his back on God and "substituted" the pure Authorized King James Bible text of Dan. 9:24-27, with the corrupted text of the Revised Version Bible (R.V. 1885)!!! Believe it or not, this act of "high treason" hs become the "foundation" and "root" of virtually all of our modern prophetic books and teachings we read and hear today concerning the 7-year tribulaton period (Dan. 9:15 scripture). A future Roman Antichrist (the "he" in Dan. 9:27) who makes a 7 year peace covenant with Israel and then breaks it after 3-1/2 years, etc, etc.!
Compare below the corrupted R.V. rendering of Dan 9:27 which "makes" the "he" - the Antichrist, to the purified A.V. text which declares the "he" Jesus Christ:

LIKE COMPARING HEAVEN AND HELL

Authorized King James Bible
And he shall confirm the convenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreadingof abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummations, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

The Revised Version of 1885 (R.V.)
And shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and for the half of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease; and upon the wing of abominations shall come one that maketh desolate; and even unto the consummation, and that determined, shall wrath be poured out upon the desolator.

Now, which one of the above did God say? They obviously are not the same, are they? There are two critical changes that are plainly seen: Click Here for the rest of this article.

There is quite a bit of difference between confirming (Hebrew word can also mean strengthening) the covenant and making a firm covenant.  Don't you think?

Another interesting item on the way Daniel's 70 weeks was written .

Historicist William H. Shea[8] notes that verses 25-27 form a chiasm:

A. Daniel 9:25a (ASV)

Jerusalem Construction:

Know therefore and discern, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem

B. Daniel 9:25b

Anointed one:

unto the anointed one, the prince, shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks:

C. Daniel 9:25c

Jerusalem Construction:

it shall be built again, with street and moat, even in troublous times.

D. Daniel 9:26a

Anointed one:

And after the threescore and two weeks shall the anointed one be cut off, and shall have nothing:

C'. Daniel 9:26b

Jerusalem Destroyed:

and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and even unto the end shall be war; desolations are determined.

B'. Daniel 9:27a

Anointed one:

And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease;

A'. Daniel 9:27b

Jerusalem Destroyed:

and upon the wing of abominations shall come one that maketh desolate; and even unto the full end, and that determined, shall wrath be poured out upon the desolate.

Further evidence that the he of  Daniel 9:27 is referring to Jesus.

Then the covenant that Daniel is talking about is the one he started his prayer with in Daniel 9:4
