"To Deborah re: koran burning"
Since this event is being run by the Westboro Baptists, I would not say a 'pastor' is leading it!
These people are crazy!
When
we were at Notre Dame protesting Obama's visit there with other
Pro-Life groups, these nuts were there too. They were against EVERYONE!
The
Catholic group was walking with other Protestants, united together
against abortion...but these people actually had signs that said, "God
Hates You". huh? They also had signs like the 'walk' signs, but with
images of homosexual sex...and "God Hates Fags". If you try to tell
them that God can 'hate the sin, yet love the sinner', they scream at
you. You can't reason with them, if you read Scripture to them, they
scream you down.
My kids want to work in TV/Movies, they are
wanting to get involved with other Christian/Conservative groups who
want to take the reins in Hollywood to promote/present family/Christ
valued entertainment. We went to San Diego's huge Comic Con this past
weekend. It used to be just 'comic book' stuff, but now all popular
media is there. There are faith based groups but also some dark stuff
(just like in the rest of the world). Being a light in the darkness is
important...plus, my kids have always loved to act, film, write,
photograph...all sorts of interests.
Anyway this same group
showed up to 'protest'. They said that even 'dressing up' as any
character from tv/movies/comics was 'idol worship'. They were yelling
at families with little kids dressed as the heroes from popular
shows/movies. Positive characters even (ie Captain America, Wonder
Woman, et al). They were shouting that these people and their children
were going to hell!!
Most of the people at the con realized they
are not speaking for the Christian Church and 'protested' too...some of
it was funny, like the robot character who carried a sign that said, "I
hate you too, death to all humans", or the 'borg' with a sign in
binary. Even the Stormtrooper from Star Wars with "I hate Jedi's"...
The
thing is, no one takes these people seriously. Unfortunately, some
people don't realize that they are NOT speaking the truth of the
Bible...and think all Christians feel the way they do. We ARE told to
pray for our enemies, to love others. We can 'hate the sin, yet love
the sinner'. These people do not get that. They are full of hate, which
tells you right there that Christ can not be in their hearts.
Blessings~
