"Heather Belletete response you asked for"
Greetings and welcome to Five Doves, Heather.
I don't believe I have seen you on Five Doves before, but glad you're reading and thinking
through all that's written.
I,
too, love Christmas and it is my most favorite time of the year.
The colors and lights are just beautiful. I had stopped
decorating a tree mostly for practical purposes, but because of reading
history found its original basis for being incorporated to Christian
practices did come out of Pagan roots. I learned this as I love
history and not due to anything I can remember of any promptings from
the Holy Spirit.
When reading what I did, I gave it
consideration to decide that I'll just not extend any further tree
decorating anyway. Now, I do go to Christmas Eve services and
interestingly
that Church nearby that I could get my family to
attend with me was close to home and they didn't have a tree set up at
all. It was a Baptist Church.
Scripture teaches us
that we are all growing up in Christ, that we are all at different
stages in our walk with the Lord. It doesn't mean that you are
not "spiritual" and when we are in the presence of Christ we will know
as we are known, Meaning we will all have a complete and full knowledge
of Christ. Anotherwords, prior to that we are all growing,
learning and becoming more like Christ.
Daily reading
the Scriptures, reading Church history, FF Bruce being an excellent
source of Church history is one, and so very many good commentaries are
available both online and at the Christian bookstores. Pulling up
online Christmas history, the history and foundations for all we
celebrate can be found online and from there asking God to direct you
and determine which will be a part of your celebrations then is between
you and the Lord.
Anyway, that's just my thoughts and again, welcome and hope you continue with us.
