"The Perspective of a Bible-Believing Catholic"

John and Doves –

While I appreciate why some of you left the Catholic Church, some others of you need to take a deep breath and cool the vitriolic denouncements, because you’re way out of line if you think you  can paint all of us “idol-worshipping, Mary-worshipping, incense-sniffing Catholics” with the same broad brush.  (By the way, we don’t worship any being except God.)

First of all, I belong to the Church of the Body of Christ – first and foremost.  That said, one of the ways I live my faith in this world is by attending a Catholic Church, the church of my ancestors.  Like you, I believe there is only one God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.  There are three Persons in that one God, one of Whom is the only-begotten Son of the Father, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who died so that I may be saved for all eternity.  I AM worthy to be saved ONLY because of Him, not because of anything I could ever do in this life.

The Catholic Church officially has an amillennial position in its eschatological view – I do not subscribe to that.  I believe in the rapture. I believe the King of Kings will reign for a thousand years on earth before the end.  But their amillennial position doesn’t affect the homilies I hear on Sundays – because they conform closely to the gospels – at least where I attend.

Contrary to some of your beliefs, there are a few (possibly quite a few) of us who actually DO read the bible.  Which one?  Well, on my kitchen table is a King James version, which I’ll occasionally reference because of its beautiful, lyric language; but because I’m not perhaps as intellectually gifted as some, I also have the New Living Translation.  It is this version that my husband and I share for our daily readings.

We love Our Lord and believe that He alone is the way to the Father.  My husband and I have also been given a number of confirmations that we’re on the right track, faith-wise, (mind you, I said “faith-wise and that I earlier stated that we belong to the Church of the Body of Christ – so I’m not saying that God has personally endorsed the Catholic Church to me, but He also hasn’t said “Get out, you sons and daughters of perdition.”  I doubt that He ever will.)

I’m in this rapture watch right up to the end with the rest of you doves – and I hope you won’t kick me off the cloud because I chose an earthly church in which to worship that isn’t to your liking.

Love in Christ,

Carla
