"Prophesy Fulfilled"

Below is a letter I wrote and sent to family and friends. I don't know if it will get anybody's attention, but I hope it will spark some dialogue. Fell free to copy and send it if you feel it might help.

Hi All,

Over the years I’ve been watching world events and studying biblical prophesy and trying to figure out where we are on the Bible’s timeline. I’ve got to say that it sure appears that we’re very close to the end, the time when (hopefully) Jesus yanks His Church out of here and the final judgment with Satan begins. I’m not saying this because Jesus spoke a “word” directly to me or I had a vision or a “dream”, but because of the way world events are matching and fulfilling prophesy. I could go on and on about the many prophesies that are being fulfilled, but there are three that I think really go to the heart of the matter.

#1 Ezekiel Chapter 37 – The Vision of the Dry Bones.

I’m not going to copy the whole chapter here, but I’d strongly recommend reading and studying it. It’s a great prophecy in that not only is it given, but it’s clearly explained. I’d like to highlight just a couple of points, though. In vs.2   it makes what looks like kind of a strange observation that the bones were “very dry”. Actually this points to the idea that they’ve been there a LONG time, much longer than during any other Jewish dispersion. Another very important point is made in vs.21. In the history of the Jews, this is the only time they’ve been called home to the Promised Land from all over the world. Every other time they were moved out of Israel, it was because they were taken captive (i.e. the Assyrians and Babylonians) and more or less ended up in one location. Shortly after the Jews denied Jesus, though, they were scattered across the world. In 70 ad the Romans demolished Jerusalem, obliterated the Temple and scattered the Jews to the four winds. In the intervening 2500 years since this prophecy was given, there has been no fulfillment until now. Israel being brought back to life and becoming a nation again today is the direct and only fulfillment of this prophecy. This idea that in the last days Jews would be gathered from around the world and returned to historic Israel is also a theme echoed by most of the other Old Testament prophet.

#2 Ezekiel Chap. 38,vss. 1-6

1 And the word of the Lord came to me saying,2 "Son of man, set your face toward Gog of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him3 and say, 'Thus says the Lord God, "Behold, I am against you, O Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal.4 "I will turn you about and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them splendidly attired, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them wielding swords;5 Persia, Ethiopia and Put with them, all of them with shield and helmet;6 Gomer with all its troops; Beth-togarmah from the remote parts of the north with all its troops—many peoples with you.

This is another incredible prophecy. The modern areas commonly associated with the above areas in bold are as follows:

Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal: Russia and areas in the far north

Persia: Iran, Ethiopia (or Cush): Sudan, Put: Libya

Gomer, Beth-togarmah: Turkey

Over the millennia, this prophecy was believed  to be just an allegory or parable used to illustrate how widespread the  opposition to Israel would be. This was because,1. these regions were too distant from each other to think they could ever become allies and, 2. Israel is so small there has never been enough spoil for any one of them to bother with much less all of them. Yet today this prophecy is proving to be a clear and accurate snapshot of 2500 years in the future. This alliance is now a fact and the ties that bind are growing stronger every day. Absolutely incredible! Which brings me to my final point –

#3 Zechariah Chap.12, vs. 2,3

"Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the peoples around; and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah.3 "It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured . And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it.

Let’s face it, the Jews in general and Jerusalem in particular are a huge pain in the neck to the whole world. With all the attention Israel commands on the world stage, you’d think it‘s the size of the US or Russia or China, but it’s just this itty-bitty postage stamp sized country that’s like a Midwest prairie town – blink and you’ve missed it. Most of the countries around it are so much bigger and have so many more natural resources you have to wonder why they even bother with Israel. It makes no sense whatsoever. And yet, the focus of the world is on Israel 24/7. The level of hate directed at Israel is so out of proportion I think even a secular person has to suspect there’s more to it than just human emotion. The whole situation is so intractable and seemingly unsolvable most of the world wishes it would all just go away. I’m still expecting an organization such as the UN to name some rock in the North Pacific ‘New Israel’ and offer every Israelite who relocates there a million dollars a year income for life and a new Ferrari. All courtesy of the rest of the world. Even countries who don’t have anything against Israel would be for it just for a little peace and quiet. But that’s just not going to happen (and wouldn’t work if it did). Not because of what I or anybody else says, but because of what God says. It’s His plan that will come to pass.

Some may choose to see all this as nonsense and dismiss it out of hand. They have the perfect right to do so, but I hope they don’t. My hope is that everyone would take the time and effort to study and meditate on what I’ve written. Furthermore, I’d encourage all who haven’t to pray to Jesus, admit you’re a sinner like the rest of us, ask for His forgiveness and put yourselves under His care and protection. Ask Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit and to give you a clear understanding of the truth. There is no downside to this – if I’m wrong, the worst that will happen is nothing will happen! He won’t force His will on us, but Jesus does love us and truly wants us to turn to Him. Give yourself a break.

Love,

Brad
