Q. I don't care at all about rewards in Heaven for myself. All I want to do is to be with Jesus when I die. I don't care if I rule and reign with Jesus in His Millenium Kingdom or wear any crowns. What's wrong with that?A. In essence, you are saying that the works that God has prepared for you to do are not important, and you are not interested in being found faithful at the Judgment Seat of Christ. This is a slap in the face to God and shows that you do not care about being found faithful. The top reward in heaven is to "win Christ" (Phil. 3:8), which means to be the bride of Christ. The bride will be the most intimate with Christ in the heavenly kingdom. If you are not interested now in reward in the kingdom, you will be interested at the time you get a new body that will be perfectly obedient to God. You will then experience "weeping and gnashing of teeth" when you realize that you have wasted your inheritance in the kingdom of heaven. Esau sold his birthright for a bowl of red stew (Gen. 25:20-34), but he wept bitterly when he later realized what he had done (Heb. 12:14-17).
