According a report on Debka.com, the Iranian President came to remind Assad of the debt that he owes the Islamic Republic (Iran).  He is worried over the public announcements by both Assad and Olmert in discussing peace as it would undue his plans for a war in the region.  Assad thanked him for all of Iran's help and informed him that he still needs to do what is best for his country.  I wonder if we are seeing the beginning of fissures that ultimately will turn into Iran and Syria fighting eachother when they invade Israel, as predicted in Ezekiel 38.
