What most don't realize is that this is NOT the Hebraic years 5768 and 5769 !!!

The correct Hebrew year is about 6005  or 6006.

 

You see, what happened was that at the time of the 2nd revolt against Rome

about 135 AD, the Jewish leaders wanted it to appear that their leader was the messiah according to the Daniel ch9 70 weeks prophecy. Thus they changed, subtracted 237 years from the Jewish calendar to promote this fable. (they messed up Daniel 9's  start date too !!) They also wanted to discredit Jesus as our Messiah.

The Hebrew Christians then abandoned the revolt because they knew the truth. This caused the final split between Judaism and Christianity. 

After the final disaster and dispersion of Israel, the correct calendar never got changed back. 

It is also why Jews refuse today to say that Daniel is a prophet.

You can find this in the Jewish encyclopedia and other places...

 

So if you are going to do any calculating, you have to take this into account.
