Israel approves release of Palestinian prisoners

JERUSALEM (CNN) -- Israel's cabinet on Sunday approved the release of 250 Palestinian prisoners to boost ties between the Jewish state and Fatah party leader and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, an Israeli official told CNN.

A committee will now work to draw up a list of prisoner names, which will then be posted on a government Web site to allow 48 hours for the releases to be challenged in petitions to the high court, the official said.

None of those prisoners have "blood on their hands," Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said at the start of his weekly cabinet meeting.

The prisoner release was promised by Olmert to Abbas in late June during a Mideast summit in Egypt.

Three days after that meeting, Prime Minister Salam Fayyad told CNN the new Palestinian government is seeking "intensive and active cooperation" from Israel to ensure that the chaos that recently gripped Gaza does not re-emerge in the West Bank.

That military action basically split the former Fatah-Hamas unity government in half, with Hamas in control of Gaza and Fatah in the West Bank.

IMHO Israel will soon regret this latest instance of lethal political correctness!!! How many times does Israel (the victim) have to keep giving and giving to their enemy, who is a liar, and has YET to live up to any of their end of the agreements?  Insanity rules our world!  God IS coming soon! It took Joshua in ancient times to boldly fight for Israel and bring them to victory.  He believed God. Neither God nor Joshua were pasificists when dealing with evil, they condemmed it and overcame it.  A good lesson for our world today, but who will listen? Certainly not Israel's leaders or the US who are giving billions of dollars to the enemy of Israel--radical Islam.... Spiritual blindness is truly an amazing thing to witness! And blindness to the extent it is today is surely God's will separating those that would be righteous still and those that would be evil still. I feel like God is allowing all this to see who will believe in His word and power and those who don't! Does He have the power to deliver His chosen people safely through the evil into the Promised Land or not? Luk 18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? Or will Israel STILL be listening to the evil report of the spies after all these centuries???
