Damascus boasts of being the oldest CONTINUALLY INHABITED city in the world.  The Scripture indicates that it will cease being a city and will be a ruinous heap.  It is not a POLITICAL desolation that the Scripture speaks of but a physical one.

While there are many double fulfillments in Scripture, this is not one of them.  It has YET to be fulfilled.
