Border Security: Lebanon and Lessons Learned
An Editorial By: John Terry, Revelation Files
www.revelationfiles.comThe issue of U.S. border security has come to the forefront with the recent attacks against Israel. At least, it should.
I listened to a Lebanese woman share how Hezbollah gained control over a once Christian nation on Point of View Radio Talkshow this past Friday (the segment will be archived on www.pointofview.net early next week) and something she shared really hit close to home. Lebanon was once a democratic, Christian nation where faith in Christ was openly practiced and encouraged. She stated as such they openly encouraged others to join them and enjoy the freedoms and openness of their land, and many Arab neighbors took advantage of the opportunity to move into Lebanon.But.rather than assimilate into the Lebanese culture, they chose to bring their own ideologies and agendas into this free country and once they gained the majority they began to persecute the Christians and brought about radical changes to the nation. Christians were forced to flee into bunkers and many were killed. The end result is a country that cannot remove a radical Islamic militia from power and we are seeing this group's hatred of the Jews being manifest in the latest of a long history of conflicts between Israel and its Arab neighbors.
America has failed to learn the history lessons of Lebanon and is choosing to continually allow others to enter our country illegally who are not assimilating into the culture, and are bringing their own ideologies and agendas into this free nation. Once those who are here illegally become the majority, they may elect to impost their will on the American populace and the country as we know it will radically change for the worse. I for one prefer NOT to have a government like that of Mexico or some of the other Latin American countries, and as I watch the growing infiltration of drug traffickers, gang violence, and a general disregard for the laws and culture of this great country, I wonder if we too will one day (like the Lebanese) look back and wish we had done more to manage the volumous influx of immigrants into our country.
I am not saying that those from other countries coming to America are terrorists, as the vast majority who are coming here are doing so for economic reasons. However, by and large they are not assimilating into the country, refusing to learn the language and customs of our nation, and come with an expectation that this Government will take care of them and provide for their needs while many are here illegally and remain in the underground society, not contributing to the tax base. This is creating a huge burden on the Governmental welfare and social service structure of the country, and with an aging population and dwindling tax base, imposes a growing hardship that could literally bankrupt the US and forever alter the land those of us who've grown up in this great nation have learned to cherish and respect.
Wake up America and look at what is happening in Israel and Lebanon right now. The Bible says the things recorded in history are there so we can learn the lessons of the past and not make the same mistakes those who came before us did. Maybe its time those who make the laws are reminded of the consequences of bad choices - or maybe we as a nation should elect those who will enforce the laws on the books and strengthen our national security and moral fortitude in the process.
