The Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer has transferred former prime minister Ariel Sharon to an intensive care unit, after finding a germ in his blood. The hospital said Sharon's condition continues to be serious but stable.
Sharon is being administered antibiotics intravenously. Following the continuation of the accumulation of fluids in his blood, it was decided to begin treatment similar to a dialysis machine aimed at removing the excess fluids.
Sharon aides expressed optimism despite the concern over the new germ discovered. One associate said, "his two sons Gilad and Omri are looking after him and hope that the treatment in the intensive care unit can re-stabilize his condition."The situation is not good but the sons have hope; there is a lot of emotions in this. The doctors should be listened to more than family members who speak from emotion," an associate said.
"Everybody is praying for the former prime minister's welfare," said the associate, who visited Sharon at the Sheba Medical Center.
