No matter what Israel does they will be criticized by the world.  It is prophecy fulfillment that Israel will have to stand alone against the world.  So, I think they should just do whatever they need to do to protect themselves.  So far the world "voices" of the UN, etc., is toothless.  Their sanctions mean nothing.  So why worry about what "they say".  Europe is loaded with cowards who learned NOTHING from WWII and the appeasement approach.....the other half are muslims who won't be happy until every Jew is dead.  These people will never be pleased with anything Israel does.  Israel is learning the hard way, again, that appeasement (treaties with their enemies) just won't work......God won't allow it to work.  The only thing that will help America and Israel turning to God with all of our hearts (at least the majority of us).  We are watching prophecy be fulfilled.  Its sad to watch, but in reality these things are already cast into to stone......they will be played out, nothing can be done to stop the coming Tribulation period, the coming wrath of God.
 
As Christians we are called to occupy until the Lord returns.  Right now that means take a stand for righteousness and let the chips fall where they may.  We are commanded to be in constant prayer asking God to restrain evil.  We are particularly called to pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.  That's our job as the salt of the earth.
 
God help the world when we are gone, and there is no one to be in constant prayer.
 
I am personally of the opinion, that the church will not be here to even see the fulfillment of the war described in Ezekiel 38/39, which is nuclear, because God is again dealing directly with Israel, with no mention of the church.  God delivers them supernaturally, while America and Russia get nuked.  These events are part of the wrath of God on the ungodly.  We are not to fear the wrath of God, like Psalm 91 says, true followers of Christ will not share in it.
 
The scriptures you quote about everyone going to Jerusalem refer to the Millennium Reign of Christ.  Yes, then everyone will make pilgrimages to Jerusalem to worship Him.  For now, Israel won't even let Christians into Israel.  That is their worst nightmare to be living in a Christian dominated country again.  They left Europe to get away from Christians.  Hitler was a Catholic, so you can imagine their dread of "Christians".  For now, we are called to bloom where God has planted us, and pray without ceasing.......also to pray that we might be found worthy to escape all these things coming to earth to punish the inhabitants of earth.
 
That's my opinion and interpretation of scriptures anyway.
