"ONE PRAYER FOR FIVE THEMES"
ONE PRAYER FOR FIVE THEMES
It is important to understand something very unique about
Genesis Chapter 13. It has five major themes each corresponding to it's
numeric meaning. Theme one is Abram acknowledging God's Sovereignty after
being released from Egypt to Beth-el.The number 1 in scripture means unity
with God. Theme two is division. Theme 3 was their selective earthly dwellings
which God in a very distinct way divinely fulfilled which is the very meaning
of this corresponding number. In the fourth theme God reiterates His promise
to Abram about His inheritance and heirs which is a reality that will be
fulfilled on Planet Earth. Four is the number of creation involving the
World. The fifth theme in this chapter matches God's Grace. An Altar in
Hebron was built to worship the Lord to experience God's Grace in a more
personal way. This particular article will have to be limited to the five
major themes of Genesis chapter 13 because of space. Maybe in another
article I can concentrate on the division and Apostasy in a more specific
way.
In theme number one something horrible happened to Abram
but he was released from Egypt and as a result he had the wisdom to acknowledge
God's Sovereignty (the very meaning of 1) at Beth-el. It was a pattern
in Abram's life. If something good happened to Abram he would acknowledge
and worship God. It would be the same with us. Prayer-Thank God,we break
our leg-look to God for wisdom in that time of trouble or maybe emotionally
hurting-wait upon God for His gentle response. Only by doing this will
we have true unity with God (1).
The second theme would have to be so obvious that almost
anybody would be able to figure this one out. There was division in the
camp. After Abram worshipped God he was able to face the division in a very
wise way. Division (2).
The third theme is when Abram, Lot,and their servants
settled into their respective homes. Even though this was not God's Will
He still (3) divinely fulfilled their wishes (will) even though He had
something better in mind for them. Since we live in a sin filled World
God had to give His children the promise that He would work all things
out for the good for those that love Him and are called according to His
purpose.
The 4th theme is a reiteration of past promises that
God already gave Abram because at this point He knew that Abram needed
comfort. Many people believe that Lot was traveling with Abram for about
50 years. Abram was promised an inheritance and heirs which will ultimately
be fulfilled in the Millennial Kingdom of Jesus Christ. If we listen to
God closely we will hear Him give us comfort in this World after a deep
loss that we face. The 4th theme matches the meaning of the number 4.
The fifth theme is where God desires to bring everyone
of His children.Abram acknowledged God's Sovereignty at Beth-el,he faced
division,he experienced a loss,he received comfort from God in this World
and he was drawn to Hebron to build an Altar unto the Lord (5). Whether
we know it or not as God's children He is working in our lives so we will
be drawn by Him in prayer and worship because in eternity this is what
we are going to be doing. We will be adoring God through His Son Jesus Christ. It
also dawned on me that we as Christians are probably at one of these 5
themes. This is a suggests prayer.Lord help me acknowledge your Sovereignty,if
division comes along, enable me to deal with it in a wise way, whatever you
decide to fulfill in my life in this sinful World I know Your Word says
you are working all things out for good. Please give me your comforting
promises in this World so I can be sustained and draw me to that place
of worship where I can meet you and experience your Grace in a more fulfilling
way. You may desire to even put this prayer in your own words.
