JNW HEADLINE NEWSDahlan: Israeli pullout is terror's victory
By Jerusalem Newswire Editorial StaffJune 30th, 2005
Palestinian Authority Civil Affairs Minister Mohammed Dahlan Wednesday suggested Israel's planned surrender of the Gaza Strip and northern Samaria was a victory for years of unrelenting terrorist warfare against Israel's Jews.
Any Israeli withdrawal constitutes a “victory” for the determined will of the Palestinian Arabs, and an “achievement accomplished through the sacrifices of thousands of martyrs and wounded,” Dahlan told repoters in Gaza City, employing a phrase used in the Arab world to refer to Islamic “suicide” terrorists.
Taking the opportunity to further demonize the Jewish state, Dahlan claimed the Israelis were “poisoning” those areas of Gaza under their control ahead of the pullout.
“We have definite information that the Israeli settlers are poisoning the lands in order to damage it and to prevent the Palestinians from using it in the future,” said the former Gaza security chief once wanted by Israel for his involvement in terrorism.
The PA-controlled media regularly features wild accusations of bizarre acts of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian Arabs, such as the oft-repeated claim that IDF soldiers hand out poisoned candies to Arab children at every opportunity.
Dahlan also charged Israel with planning to turn Gaza into a “big prison” following the evacuation of its Jewish residents, and reiterated the demand that control over all border crossings and ports be relinquished to the PA.
“If Israel doesn't surrender control over crossings and terminals, this means that Israel is not withdrawing from the Gaza Strip.”
Earlier this month, Dahlan publicly invited Damascus-based Hamas leaders to relocate their base of operations to Gaza following the Israeli withdrawal, something that could not take place if Israel retained control over the Strip's entry points.
Many Israelis fear the withdrawal will result in Gaza becoming an unchecked haven for Islamic terrorists, and are wary of allowing the “Palestinians” control over who and what enter the area.
Dahlan warned several weeks ago that Israel's failure to meet PA demands on Gaza's borders and other issues pertaining to the “disengagement” was “paving the way for a third intifada.”
Under the terms of the so-called “Oslo Accords,” the Palestinian Arabs are not to use terrorism or the threat of anti-Jewish violence as a negotiating tool.
