Dear friends:In 1994 I was blessed to win a prestigious Amy Writing Award and a nice monetary award for a published newspaper article titled, "Wake Up, America." It described our nation's strong biblical roots, how we have fallen away, and what must be done about it.
In 1995, with added conviction, I wrote an article that spread throughout the world and now on the Internet titled, "God's Judgment on America." The article is at http://www.choicesforliving.com/spirit/part4/judgement.htm .
This last article was especially difficult for me to write, and several times since then I have considered taking it off my Web site. That is because I don't like to be negative, and I do not want to rule out God's grace to save the nation from what appears inevitable. That is my nature. We are supposed to pray and believe, trusting God's promises. Writing a pessimistic article with no hope seems contradictory to that biblical principle.
However, in reviewing the article today and reviewing events since 1995, I am more convinced than ever that the basic message is still valid, maybe more so, for the biblical reasons given therein. One reason is that I believe we are so far along on God's prophetic clock that certain events cannot be altered, but are rushing toward fulfillment. In my 1995 article above, I may have overstated Russia's end-time role against America, but I am not sure. It is still possible to happen the way I suggest.
Now ten years later, I see more of a threat from Islamic terrorism. Realities are (1) admitted terrorist cells in the U.S., (2) credible reports that they already have nuclear weapons, (3) little effort to stop the flow of illegals across our borders, many of whom are Muslims sent here to blow us up, (4) a pervasive and accepted political correctness and multi-culturalism that, in effect, are acting as a national death wish, and (5) a dominant anti-American culture and media in our own country, molding attitudes of the young and other ignorant. We have bred a culture of national cynics, masochists, and political obsessives, mostly without God, and have created a literally hellish situation. Future threats, if we last that long, will be the rising nuclear capabilities of China, Korea, Iran, and probably other rogue nations.
Nuclear weapons going off in our cities would kill millions, destroy the economy, and paralyze the culture. It might even reduce the TV news coverage of Aruba. A U. S. Congress study said that it would be a matter of "when," not "if." The "when" may be sooner than most people think. And I mean much sooner. But typically, people will be caught by surprise, just as on 9-11 and in Noah's day, when "...they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away" (Matthew 24:38-39).
Just today, the Koenig's Eye View report said, "Something to consider: The U.S. has been on a sure slippery slope to moral decline. Like Israel some 2,500 years ago, the U.S. has given way to denying God, to homosexuality, to witchcraft, to child sacrifice (through abortion). Many believe that Islamic terrorism is God's judgment on the U.S. In Jeremiah 51 and 52, the Lord speaks of a Babylon with seaports that is a mixing bowl of people and is a land without control of its borders very similar to the current United States. The Lord said in Jeremiah 51:14, 'Surely I will fill you with men, as with locusts (often having the meaning in the Bible of Chaldeans or Muslims); and they shall lift up a shout against thee.' Jeremiah prophesies in Jeremiah 51:62, 'O Lord, you have spoken against this place, to cut it off, that none shall remain in it, neither man, nor beast, but that it shall be desolate forever.'"
Odd timing, similar message. I expand on Jeremiah 50 and 51 in my 1995 judgment article above.
Add to the above slippery slope the rise of materialism, hedonism, apostasy, cults, and false religions, as well as national policies that are forcing Israel from her God-given, covenant land and giving it to her avowed enemies who will not even admit to her right to exist.
Jesus spoke of a time when "There will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be" (Matthew 24:21). And in context, He said that time would come after Israel is back in the land and, as the biblical fig tree, begins to out forth its leaves, which we have seen since 1948 and 1967. We are there now.
What are we to do? Stop praying? No, but I believe our prayers should be more for God to protect His people, our loved ones, and ourselves. We must pray the way Jesus instructed us: "Pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man" (Luke 21:36, NKJV).
By Jesus' own words, there will be an "escape." God always has a remnant. I plan to be in that bunch of escapists. Join me.
And if you have not prayed to receive Christ as your Savior and commit your life to Him, do so right now. He is only a prayer away. An hour from now may be too late.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). Incredible simplicity. Powerful truth. Believe it. Accept it. Live it.
God is a God of mercy and grace, but His 2,000 years of grace are about up. It's time to decide whose side you are on. It's decision time. "The vats overflow—For their wickedness is great. Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision" (Joel 3:13-14).
