Thanks for your response that prompted me to write the below.
This morning after prayer, I opened my Bible with the intention of reading Matt4:4 but I found that I opened Luke 9 and I started reading from vs 28-36, and then this afternoon I wanted to re-read Luke 9 but my attention was drawn to 2Pet 1.
For the first time I noted the following:
- Moses and Elijah when they talked with Jesus (Luke 9:30) were clothed in the Glory of God (i.e. as Elijah, Moses and Jesus talked, they were not in their natural bodies like Peter, John and James). I have always thought that Jesus was the only one clothed in the Glory of God during their conversation.
- I have always thought that Peter uttered the statement of making tents (Luke 9:33) because he was sleepy. However, today it became clear that Peter uttered the statement while fully awake (Luke 9:32).
- I have always thought that Peter referred to tents because he wanted them to have shelter. Today it became clear that by Peter’s reference to tents, he indirectly meant the physical/natural body (2 Peter 1: 13, 14). Hence the tents were to be made for Elijah, Moses and Jesus (but not for Peter, John or James) since they were clothed in the Glory of God and not their natural bodies. NB: Peter made the statement because he realized that Moses and Elijah were departing hence he wanted to constrain them and indirectly constraining the Glory of God. Recall the two disciples to Emmaus how they constrained Jesus Christ when He indicated that He would have gone farther (Luke 24:13-29).
- Luke 9: 28-36 was fulfilling Luke 9:27.

God bless you.
