This is report # 3 from the Democratic National Convention by God's agent 007.______________________
Jim,
Yesterday was a busy day for us as final preparations were made. All the networks were tracking Senator Kerry. We have an internal audio channel here at our network operations center that keeps us apprised of any significant developments. There were constant announcements made the Kerry was running 30 minutes late for this, 45 minutes late for that. The veterans here tell me that this has been normal for the senator. He is late for more events than he is on time for. They also told me that whether you like President Bush or not, you can set your watch by his promptness.
Another thing we witnessed is that Kerry is sometimes unpredictable. He reportedly diverted his chartered Boeing 757 in flight yesterday from it's Florida destination to Boston so he could watch the Red Sox play the Yankees. And even some in the media voice concern at Kerry trying to "ride the fence" on issues such as abortion by saying that while life begins at conception, "personhood" apparently does not. I personally would like to ask the senator to define "personhood".
We did have some excitement last night (Sunday) just before midnight. A military spotter apparently reported that he saw four parachutists land on the roof of the Tip O'Neil Federal building right next to the Fleet Center. Our network news compound is bordered by the Fleet Center on one side and the Tip O'Neil federal building on the other. So, suddenly there were heavily armed men moving into the area and the sky filled with infra-red equipped spotter helicopters and gunships. In out network news center we were monitoring police scanners as they searched in vain for the intruders. An hour and a half later the search was called off after fruitless results. One local TV station reported later that it had possibly been a drill. If it was a drill, the police that we listened to on the scanner didn't know it. You could hear the tension and concern in their voices.
