“DAVID'S COMMENT: IN DEFENSE OF DE FENCE - UPDATED
Most off you will recall a comment with the same title that came out on April 10th this year. In light of the continuing controversy over the fence that Israel is constructing purely as a security barrier, and the recent unbalanced and totally unfair judgement by the International Court of Justice in the Hague, I felt inspired to update the previous article. In making this judgement deeply rooted European anti-Semitism is revealed by the fact that only the one non-European judge, an American, refrained from ruling that the fence was illegal and must be removed. The biased European never mentioned the cold blooded Palestinian terrorists whose 'holy' ambition is to kill as many Israelis as possible in the hoped result of driving the nation of Israel into the Mediterranean Sea.Facts About the Fence ( Clarence Wagner - Bridges for Peace )
When completed, less than 3 percent - or only 20 kilometres (12.5 miles) of the eventual 720 kilometres (450 miles) of the fence is concrete wall. Currently, there are only 8 kilometres (5 miles) of concrete wall along the entire route. The rest of the barrier is wire fence with a dirt road on both sides to check for footprints and electronic sensors to detect infiltration. The concrete sections are near Palestinian towns where taller buildings allow snipers to shoot at civilian drivers on nearby Israeli roads. The walls are there to block the sniper fire.
NB the media constantly films and shows the same sections of concrete wall and describes the fence as a wall, as though it were all concrete. The fence has 41 gates to allow farmers to tend their fields where the fence goes through their land. The farmers been entrusted with keys.
There are 11 crossing points where people can move freely, as long as they are not carrying weapons or explosives. Now that the Palestinians are using women and even small children, everyone is a potential bomb and must walk through metal detectors.
There are five terminals for the transfer of goods between the PA and
Israel. Why the fence? Since September 2001, there have been 21,657 terror attacks in Israel, 963 people killed, and 6,369 people wounded, maimed, blinded and maimed (as of May 2004 - the figures are now higher). Not only the deaths, but also the injuries, adversely affect whole families when the injuries are debilitating.
If compared to the USA, which suffered the World Trade Center and Pentagon 9/11 disaster, which killed 3,000 people and affected America forever, the proportional impact of the number of attacks in Israel upon the U.S. would be 1,191,135 terror attacks, 52,965 killed, and 350,295 wounded and crippled. The
U.S. had one terror attack that killed 3,000 people. Yet Israel is the size of the State of New Jersey, so the impact is magnified to impact the society, as the numbers clearly show. Therefore the Israeli government had to take steps to protect her citizens as. In Australia, Israel is one-third the size of Tasmania, and the proportional effect of her deaths, injuries, and attacks would be 75,800 attacks, 3,371 deaths, and 22,292 injured. In the
United Kingdom or South Africa, where Israel is the size of Wales or KrugerPark, the proportional effect of her deaths, injuries, and attacks would be 173,258 attacks, 7,704 deaths, and 50,952 injuries. In
Japan, where Israel is the size of ShokukuIsland, the proportional effect of her deaths, injuries, and attacks would be 454,797 attacks, 20,223 deaths, and 50,952 injuries. The most important fact about the fence - It is effective Israeli security data released last month indicate that in northern
Samaria areas where the fence has been completed, the rate of terrorist penetrations has been cut down to zero. IDF Central Command sources said that the barrier played a crucial role in the 75 % decline in suicide attacks and attempts during the first half of this year, as compared with the corresponding period in 2003. 1% of Palestinians will be inconvenienced by the present route of the fence, while more than 80% of Israelis will be protected by it. Surely fairness and common sense would dictate that the fence is a unfortunate necessity for the sake of saving lives. Remember the simple but profound email that came out a while back ?
If the Palestinians would put down their guns, there would be no war ........
If the Israelis put down their guns, there will be no Israel !!!
If the Palestinian Authority leadership had fulfilled their many pledges to apprehend the terrorists. If the terror attacks had been halted, Israel would not have had to build the fence.May the Lord Bless you as you prayerfully stand in defense of Israel's security fence and the Jewish peoples' right to exist, and to dwell in safety and to prosper in ALL of the land that God promised to Abraham. Please remember to pray for Stefan and all of the soldiers in the IDF
