"Regarding the Texas cop and border security"

Unfortunately this is a big problem, but there is no easy solution. All of us Americans, except native Americans, had immigrant grandparents at some point. They came here looking for better lives for themselves and their families. That is why immigrants continue to come here today. They know, as did our grandparents, that this is truly a land of opportunity, that we have been blessed beyond belief above every other land on earth, and that is a wonderful place to raise your children in freedom.
I have many friends and family members who are "these d--- Mexicans", and I know firsthand what they are leaving behind in order to come here. Many come from houses, if they are fortunate enough to have a house, with dirt floors, no indoor plumbing, and no electricity. A telephone is a luxury, as is an automobile. Forget about health insurance. Cable TV and computers? A dream. The average worker there earns about $18 a week.
Simply because they were born in a country that has not been blessed by Almighty God, probably because of the rampant idol worship that has persisted there for centuries, including the current idol worship in the Roman Catholic Church, does it mean they should not be allowed to pursue the dream of life in a land of abundance? Because our grandparents were lucky enough to have come here a century or two ago, does that mean that we have a monopoly on opportunity here?
My friend Lupe told me that it is worth it to come here, risking the chance of losing everything and being deported, because the opportunities are 100 times greater than in Mexico. She and her husband have discovered the American dream of owning a nice home, raising children in good schools where they are fluent in both English and Spanish, and earning a good living in a profession that contributes greatly to our economy. Without them and hundreds others like them, we would have no building industry as we know it. $100,000 homes would be doubled or tripled in price, and there would be a waiting list for them. I would prefer Lupe and others like her as neighbors rather than the rednecks who play their music loud at midnight and leave beer bottles lying in the street, then don't show up for work because they are hung over, so the workers who do show up must go home without a day's wages because the redneck boss forgot to order a building inspection.
Is our border situation good? No, but so far nobody has come up with a workable solution. What can we do? Pray. Be thankful
that we are of the lucky ones whose grandparents came here when the borders were still wide open and the land was practically free for the asking. And remember that when they came here, they were probably referred to as "those d--- Irishmen" or Germans or Polish. Substitute your own ethnic background, unless your folks were English, and  you get the picture.
