"REPLY TO MATT K -- YOUR
7/24 POST"
Hi Matt,
In reply to your 7/24 post at http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/july2004/mattk724.htm
Satan had to have known who Jesus was because when he tempted him in the
wilderness 3 times, Satan twice said to Jesus, "If thou be the Son of God...."
(Matt. 4:3 & 6). Also the unclean spirits called Legion, who
possessed the mad man, "cried with a loud voice and said, What have I to
do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God,
that thou torment me not." So both Satan and his demon spirits knew
who Jesus was.
Now as for Satan offering Jesus all the kingdoms on earth
if he would fall down and worship him, Satan must have known the prophecy
of Daniel 7:13-14 about the Son of man being given a kingdom over all people,
nations and languages; and the Son of man was going to have everlasting
dominion which wouldn't pass away or be destroyed. So Satan made
Jesus a counter offer that he would give him all the kingdoms on earth
instead if he would just fall down and worship him. Now whether Satan
would have followed through on his offer, we might never know because as
you pointed out he is a liar. However, I have heard that people
who get involved in witchcraft and in Satanic worship do it for power,
money, a high position, and they are given the powers of the occult which
come from Satan. So maybe he could have given Jesus all the kingdoms of
the world, and maybe he couldn't have if he was lying about it.
Even Satan has limitations, and only is allowed so much power by God, the
Father who controls everything according to his own will and purposes.
For now, Satan is temporarily the ruler of darkness,
and is also referred to as "god of this world" in 2 Corinthians 4:3-4
" who has blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of
the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto
them." We are either servants of Satan as servants of sin, or we are servants
of God; and if you look at the majority of the world religions who worship
other gods, they are serving Satan, the ruler of darkness because they
are controlled by their sinful, carnal nature. However, Colossians
1:12-13 tells us that God, "the Father has delivered us (believers) from
the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear
Son."
God the Father will allow Satan to give power unto the
beast who will rule over all the earth for a short while and the Son of
perdition will proclaim himself to be God, but when the seventh angel sounds
the trumpet, "The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our
Lord, and of his Christ: and he shall reign for ever and ever." And
Satan will be chained in the bottomless pit for a thousand years, and later
on cast into the lake of fire where the beast and the false prophet are.
Satan's deception and evil influence on mankind on earth will finally come
to an end.
God bless,
Donna
