"Re: Letters"
Dear John,
Monday eve
Concerning Paul's post on the "lesser of
two evils." We live in a less than perfect world. One thing I have found
out in my 65 years is that no human system is without fault, even a third
party candidacy.
I was on a city council for eight years
and ran for a state wide office against a two term encumbent and got the
most votes of anyone running against an encumbent at the state level, and
still lost.
One thing I learned is how lonely you can
feel in politics when you identify with Jesus Christ. I also found out
how fickle the Christian community is where politics are concerned.
Most Christians have never run for political
office and would be shocked if they did at how naive many Christians are
and easily deceived by lying facts put out by candidates with money to
burn. About half of those who call themselves Christian never even vote,
not considering it a spiritual act. I found many Christians naive to the
extreme and grossly lacking in the area of discernment.
To think that a third party candidate is
not capable of being influenced by Satan as are the two major parties shows
a lack of knowledge of the secular world we live in. To think that God
can't effect his will through either of the two major parties is to make
God smaller than he is. He is a great God. Bush is clearly the better of
the two men capable of winning the Presidency. He is not afraid to identify
him self with Jesus Christ. That is why so many hate him and say evil things
about him. I would expect that the office of the president is the loneliest
post in the world.
Praise God for George Bush.
Sincerely,
