I always end up in trouble whenever I write about anything with political overtones. I had written a letter to the editor of my local newspaper really chastising Christians who vote for democrats earlier this year and even posted a copy of it here, after being intensely angered by that big Pro-abortion rally in Washington . I ended up really taking a lot of heat over that letter and had decided to not really speak up again. But I did notice that the political debate is heating up again on this board and just need to get some things off my mind one more time.
I am really having trouble in trying to discern what is going on and in figuring out what we should do.
Is anyone else out there troubled in this way ??
Watching the news now is becoming unbearable for me.
All I know for certain is that the values of our God who has blessed us so beyond what any of us deserve in this nation are being aggressively attacked day in and day out in a way I have never seen in my lifetime.
I have prayed for the leaders of this Country and for discernment, and this is what I truly feel at this point.
I think President Bush is really trying to do the best he can, and I think he really loves God and wants to do what is right. He has made some mistakes, as any human would do. I have read several comments about positive things he has made about Muslims and so forth, but I think that is just simple diplomacy.
He really has no choice but to try to make peace and have cordial relations with the Muslims who are willing to do so. I think his strategy is to first show them how a democracy works and win them over in that respect. If they become accustomed to a more western lifestyle, then they will be much less of a threat to us. And it may also eventually open up some of their minds and hearts to Christianity. But it can only be done little by little. At least I really feel that is his strategy. I have doubts whether it will work, but as the leader of this Country, he must have a long-term plan to protect our way of life. Because none of us can really say how much longer we will really be here.
One thing I think we all need to think about before we reach any unmovable conclusions in our minds is Why is President Bush being so aggressively attacked from every angle?? Sure, there has been lots of criticism of our Leaders in the past and it has gotten pretty nasty before, but to this degree?? I can’t remember a time when it has been this bad -- And all of these conspiracy theories going around on both the left and right-- Something is definitely going on !!!
The only conclusion I can reach at this point is that President Bush is standing in the way of some grand plan in the works and he has to be taken out of the picture. (And since most of the vicious attacks are coming from those who hate everything Christianity stands for, I have to conclude they are coming from Satan himself).
And I am somewhat afraid that Christians are being used in this plan much to our dismay. We are arguing among ourselves and seem to be just as much divided as the rest of the Country.
I think the Constitution Party may be using the wrong strategy right now. I think the logical track for this party to follow right now would be to first rally around President Bush and try to help him get re-elected so that Christians will at least have a voice willing to listen.
Then organize grass-roots campaigns to undo the damage the ultra-liberals and activist judges have done to this country one issue at a time. That is the best way to get the message out there and be heard and gain influence. What they are doing right now is not even making a ripple. We have to use common sense.
Sure, God can and does work miracles, but he expects us also to use logic, reason, and strategy in our actions.
If we allow Kerry to get elected, I am afraid we may have missed our last chance to make a difference in the world. If all the People who profess to be Christians in this Country would truly rally together, we could turn the tide. But I am feeling somewhat pessimistic about that possibility.
It would be a lot easier to know what to do if we knew when the rapture was going to happen, but God as reserved that information only unto himself.
I think the main reason for that is he wants us to keep on working up until the very end.
I don’t think he wants us to just sit back and say, “Well this is all just a sign that the end is near, so let’s just retreat now and wait for the rapture”.
And that’s what all of these conspiracy theories make people want to do. The Tri-lateral Commission, the New World Order, the Illuminati, skull & bones society, etc. I feel certain whatever is really going on behind the scenes is not something readily available to everyone to read about on the internet.
It makes you feel that everything is one big plot and there is nothing you can do but either sit and wait or stock up on survival supplies and flee to the mountains. (depending on whether you are pre-trib or not). If you rely on those theories, then why vote at all ? Whoever you vote for, you are just helping along the plans of the NWO anyway. I wonder if all of this stuff is a diversion tatic of the "real" forces of evil out there.
I know the Anti-Christ is out there and waiting, but I feel there is No way any of us are going to be able to figure out who it is.—At least that’s my opinion as of right now. And whoever it is, it will be someone young, extremely attractive, well-spoken, and will have a magnetic personality. Not Bill Clinton, George Bush, John Kerry, and definitely not Prince Charles –way too unattractive !!!
I still have several old prophesy books from the late 80’s and early 90’s. One of them devotes much time to unveiling how Ronald Wilson Reagan is the AntiChrist and is pretty convincing in doing so. Duhhh !!!!! Just a little wrong !!! And at the time I was pretty convinced.
What should we do ?? How to we discern through all of this ?? How do we know who to believe ??
Why are so many Christians divided on this ?? Are we all under spritual attack right now??
Why is it so difficult to weed out deception from truth ??
I am really feeling a little disheartened and confused. I know God is on the throne and he is in control, but I feel like I am having information overload. I know there must be others going through this as well.
I think we should all set aside a time frame before the election where all of us are praying for direction and discernment at the same time.
What do the rest of you think ??
Sorry for this being so lengthy, I couldn't seem to find a stopping point.
