Dear Joan,I cannot find anything in the Word of God that indicates Satan speaks to us in dreams. On the contrary God does!Job 33:14-30 "For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a visionof the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; then he openeth the earsof men, and sealeth their instruction, that he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride fromman. He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword. He is chastened alsowith pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain: so that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat. His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that werenot seen stick out. Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers. If there bea messenger with him, and interpreter, one among a thousand, to show unto man his uprightness: Then heis gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransome. His fleshshall be fresher than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth. He shall pray unto God, and he willbe favorable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness. He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited menot: He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light. Lo, all these thingsworketh God oftentimes with man, to bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light ofthe living."Nightmares and fearful, terrifying dreams actually instruct us about our spiritual condition. We mayhide them from others, and even deny them to ourselves, but they are given by God to keep us from thewrong path we may be traveling. God wants to deliver us from Satan's pit. Sometimes they warn us ofthings to come, to comfort and prepare our hearts not to be fearful and be assured that God never leavesnor forsakes us. The whole purpose of dreams and visions is to draw man to God, lead and guide us inthis life, and to show us His plans.Usually God speaks in mysteries (symbolically) but without the Holy Spirit we lack the enlightenment to ourdreams and visions. If we are carnal and walk in the flesh, we will be like the pharoahs and "wise men" ofold. Only the Holy Spirit guides us and gives us interpretation if we pray sincerely and seek answers from Him.MARY E. ADAMS
