Fear of the year 2012 has been simmering for a couple of
years at least. World issues and events have caused those
fears to boil and bubble to the top of the cauldron, but
then the ominous broth would settle to simmer again for
awhile, until the next eruption of conjecture about what
2012 means. I wrote more than a year ago about this
impending number that has now burst to the top of our
calenders
I wrote the following in an article I gave the title
“2012: The End?”:
Ominous sounds of the approaching year 2012 rumble in
the ears of this generation. The thunder comes from
constant media mantra-meanderings about the end of days as
foretold by the Mayan calendar hundreds of years ago. Is
this generation looking the end of the world squarely in
the face on December 21, 2012?
The year 2012 is but some twenty-seven months away, and
the hype is on. December 21 at 11:11 pm Universal Time of
that year will...well, we don't really know. But, it
will—according to pundits from scientists, astrologers,
and religionists to new agers, fiction writers, and
documentarians—be very bad indeed for inhabitants of the
earth
I presented in my article what one website praising the
Mayans had to say:
The Mayan civilization was extremely advanced in
mathematics, engineering and astronomy. They also had an
incredible understanding of time and space. Various
calendars were in use to track time in linear
progressions within cycles. The "Great Cycle" of the
"Long Count" calendar equates to 5,125.36 years. The
current Great Cycle is due to be completed on the winter
solstice of 2012, December 21. So, it has been
interpreted that on this day, the Great Cycle ends, time
ends, so the Earth must end as well. (2012endofdays.org
Todd and I are looking to install a regular
feature for this portentious year of 2012, counting down
to the doomsday prediction by the Mayans. But, remember,
we are Rapture Ready, so it will be a feature unlike any
other in analyzing that dreaded, approaching date,
December 21, 2012. Stay tuned…
