"Re: James
R...Tips on Type 2 Diabetes"
Hello James and all Doves...
I have never posted before but have been reading and enjoying
the postings here for a long while. I have been totally
blessed by all I have read and learned.
I felt compelled to answer James post on tips for type 2
diabetes as I also have this disease.
James... it is best to keep it simple as you learn how to care
for yourself through a diet and exercise plan. When I was
first diagnosed in 2008 I felt so overwhelmed
and lost. What I found over time that worked for me was to
really watch and limit my carb intake...especially things like
white flour, white (starchy) carbohydrates such as bread,
pasta and potatoes.
And of course anything with sugar in it. So basically
trying to follow a diet with lean proteins, lots of vegetables
and some fruit. And add in exercise.
Something I have discovered that works to bring my blood glucose
down very quickly is to do about 10-15 minutes of exercise such
as walking or light weights or a combination of both right after
a meal. I use walking tapes and hand weights and I do a
one mile walk in my basement after each meal and it magically
brings my numbers down to more reasonable values. Also
drinking a glass of water helps when the numbers are quite high.
I hope this has helped.
God Bless You Doves!!
