"Reply to Paul Wilson re: Dad & Rapture"

Concerning the rapture; the bible does not indicate that you are raptured immediately upon death, but rather at the appointed time of Jesus' return for his saved saints. The dead in Christ will rise first, then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds............................
(I Thessalonians 4:13-17). The remainder of the dead will rise after the 1000 year period in what is known as the "great white throne" judgement.. At this time, if your name is not found in the book of life, well, you know the rest of the story (Revelation Chapter 20).
The cursing is a problem; sin of any kind is a problem. I am not judging your Dad in any way, but I want to share with you what the bible says about this.
Paul said the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God (I Corinthians 6:11). Paul and the apostles wrote many more scriptures concerning this topic of sin and continuing in sin.
The problem that your Dad may have & the problem I had before I obeyed the gospel and received the Holy Ghost was that I had a stony heart. This is not unique to your Dad or me or anyone else; we are all born into sin because of Adam and Eve sinning. Please read the following scriptures concerning the heart and what the Spirit (or Holy Ghost) will do for us:
And Jesus said:
Matthew 15:18  But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
What do we do about this situation of sin in all of our lives? Obey the new testament gospel and be converted by the Holy Ghost. Look what the Lord spoke though Ezekiel about the heart and the Holy Ghost:
Ezekiel 36:26  A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.  27  And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
The Holy Ghost is the only way to get help & power over sin. We are not to continue in sin, but when we do sin, being sanctified and sealed with the Holy Ghost and washed in the name of Jesus, we have an advocate as long as we confess our sin and then we are forgiven (I John 1:8-10, 2:1). This is why I have posted many times about the need to do more than just believe, but to act on your belief. This is why you have to be born again; to receive your new heart and he also writes his laws in your heart and in your mind.
Paul, prior to my conversion and infilling of the Holy Ghost, I cursed, drank, lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, pride of life, etc, etc, etc. I thought I was a pretty good person; I believed & had been baptized (improperly) and had not repented nor received the Holy Ghost. I did not know about this from the churches I used to attend, very sporadically I might add. When I received the Holy Ghost, all of that stuff above and much more went away because God gave me a new heart, just like his word promised.
Obey Acts 2:38 and be ready for the most incredible experience you will ever have in your life, guaranteed. It helps tremendously to attend a church that preaches and teaches Acts 2:38; this can be done on your own but I would think it could be difficult to achieve. I never would have figured out what to do without instruction, etc.
In Christ,
ps I will be glad to answer any questions, concerns, etc.
