Actually, there are several reasons
why the 2 witnesses' ministry will likley cover most of the second half
of the Tribulation as I point out here:
There is one key point that most overlook. I believe the timing is clearly shown in the context of Revelation 11.
Revelation 11:1 Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood, saying,
“Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship
there. 2 But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do
not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will
tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months. 3 And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”
The 42 months that the holy city will

after the abomination of desolation. The very
next verse gives us a more precise time of 1,260 days, which is also 42
months. It seems to do disservice to the text to say that the 1,260
years came before the 42 months, when the context is tying the time of
the treading of the city to the ministry of the two witnesses.
In addition to the several other
reasons I point out in the link above, I am fairly convinced that the
ministry of the 2 witnesses will cover most of the "Great
