"THE LORD'S RETURN FOR HIS
BRIDE"
I do not know why I have not seen the profound significance
of the Lord's first miracle before, but I believe that He has shown me
a powerful connection between this and His return for His Bride.
First, we see the Lord at a wedding feast. He reveals
Himself as Messiah at this wedding. How? He gives the guests at the
wedding purifying wine (remember the wine came out of the vessels made
for purification rituals) made from water. Jesus told us to drink
wine to remember the blood He shed for us. So who were the ones who
participated in drinking of this wine that the Lord gives? It was
those who were invited to the wedding.
There are a couple of other interesting things that I
noticed here and I am sure that together we will discover more, but initially
I thought all of the disciples were at the wedding with Him, but when I
went back and counted, I could count only five. Which is interesting
because of the parable of the ten virgins.
The headwaiter also said that this wine was better than
that served in the beginning. To me, it was declaring that the second
covenant was better than the first.
Also, this explains Jesus' response to Mary when He told
her 'what does this have to do with me, my time has not yet come'.
He was talking about His cross, and the time for the true wine (blood)
had not yet come.
The really interesting thing to note is the timing of
this wedding feast. The scripture says 'on the third day' this wedding
feast occurs. If you go back to the previous chapter, you see Jesus
gathering some disciples Himself and you also see some of the disciples
gathering other disciples. Very much like what has been happening
the 'two days' (two thousand years) since Jesus left the Earth. As
a prophetic foreshadowing of events to come, scripture tells us what was
happening the two days prior to the wedding feast, which occurred on the
third day. BUT there is one last thing that I believe all of you
would find interesting ... and that is scripture says that this wedding
feast took place just a few days before passover.
