Re: Do gay Christians go to heaven?

Eddie, you make good points about the “grace factor” in being saved, or born
again.  Anyone who belives in his heart and confesses with his mouth that
Jesus is Lord shall be saved.  Can a homosexual be saved?  Of course.   Can a
drug addict be saved?  Of course.  Is there any difference?  No, not as far as
sin is concerned.  Sin is sin and Jesus forgives sin if we are sincere in our
repentance.

But let’s be clear on what being saved means.  It means we have agreed that we
are sinners and we need to be forgiven (saved).  It means we acknowledge that
we cannot save ourselves.  Now, if the work of salvation stopped there, it
would mean that we don’t have to change our ways.  We only need to be forgiven
so that we will go to Heaven one day.  Meanwhile, we continue to struggle with
the things that plague us.

But the work of salvation does NOT stop there.  The Holy Spirit becomes our
Helper.  He begins His perfect and loving work to change us on the inside.
For some this change happens fast.  For some it is a slow and arduous process.
The point is, if we are serious about our walk in Christ, we will be aware of
the Holy Spirit’s prodding to surrender areas of our lives that are not yet
surrendered.  Yes, there is a struggle sometimes.  But the struggle is in
letting go, surrendering, sacrificing.  It can be frightening losing a very
real part of ourselves.  But we are not alone in this struggle.  The Holy
Spirit provides us with supernatural power to overcome.  And what He replaces
those missing pieces with is a far greater and eternal reward.

So the question is not ‘do gay Christians go to heaven?’  The question is ‘do
Christians have the blessing of God to remain in their sinful ways no matter
what those sins are?’  Of course not.  We are on a spiritual journey
constantly being transformed into the image of Christ.  All of us.   Therefore,
let’s look at one another with love and patience and encouragement along the
way.  But let’s not teach each other that we are ok to continue on in manners
that the Lord has saved us from.
