John The Baptist and Jesus (and the apostles) and Paul ALL taught repentance. Then they were to do works meet for repentance. When you repent - you change your mind - turn around and take a DIFFERENT path. You don't stay on the same path of sin and rebellion against God. God loves the sinner, but hates the sin.
People don't want to come out of a sinful lifestyle because they are TOO comfortable in it!
