Dear John & Doves:Trying to figure out the spring feasts via the internet sure does yield many different dates. Factoring in Easter according to the Romans or Eastern Orthodox adds yet another layer of complication.
I noticed that First Fruits is considered a fixed day by some and a moveable feast by others yet fixed on a Sunday, thereby fixing Shavuot on a Sunday.
Does Passover begin on 14th or 15th Nisan? (when I put Nissan in the search engine I got a lot of sites for cars).
I’m going to make some assumptions based on my understanding of the scriptures. Of course the scriptures are correct but my understanding could perhaps use more light.
The ancient Jews considered 14 Nisan preparation day but that is the day Jesus was crucified. The first Sunday after the first weekly Sabbath after the first day of Passover (Nisan 14 or 15) is Sunday, April 27th – First Fruits. Fifty inclusive days later is Pentecost – Sunday, June 15th.
Forty inclusive days after First Fruits (Resurrection Sunday) is Ascension Thursday, June 5th. From June 5th to September 30th (Trumpets) is 117 days: 13 days + 13 weeks + 13 days = 117 days.
