Correspondent Bill Koenig to Accompany President on Mideast Trip

 

I have known Bill Koenig personally since 2002 when he spoke at my first "Understanding the Times Conference" in St. Paul, MN.  Then and now he has headed "Koenig's International News," an independent news agency covering the White House and focusing heavily on Mideast issues. It is also known as Watch.org. He has a unique love for Israel and is the author of the book, "Eye to Eye: Facing the Consequences of Dividing Israel." He will be one of our "Understanding the Times 2008" speakers, September 26 - 27, in Minneapolis.

 

He is just one of a small number of Christian correspondents and perhaps the only one with a biblical understanding of Israel's role past, present, and future.  He has gotten his outstanding book into the hands of top White House officials and major leaders in Washington who have acknowledged receipt of the book.

 

Bill Koenig has the opportunity to travel to Israel and the Middle East with President Bush, Condoleeza Rice, and the White House press corps from January 8 to 17.  The trip will include stops in Jerusalem, the Palestinian territories, Kuwait, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.

 

He will travel on the White House press charter and will be departing in what may be one of the most important times in the history of Israel and also other areas of the Mideast. Many are praying that doors would open and that he might have the opportunity to share his heart with the President, Secretary Rice, and others as to the importance of America standing by Israel.

 

The volatile issues that have arisen in Pakistan in recent days make the region even more stressful and dangerous. It is said that security for President Bush's trip will be unprecedented. In Israel, 8,000 policemen will provide security during the visit in addition to members of the American Secret Service.

 

The trip is extremely costly and I am asking you to pray about making a tax-deductible gift to help with the expenses of Bill Koenig.  He is a man called "for such a time as this," and a true "watchman on the wall" for Christians.  He knows the President from their mutual days in Texas and with prayer, an opportunity could arise for Bill to speak into the President's ear words that could affect the remaining year he has in office.  Imagine the doors that could open while traveling together for ten days.
